Top 10 things to do when on holidays in Agnes Water/1770

1. Visit the Great Barrier Reef

Experience the outer Great Barrier Reef in all its glory. Day trips to Lady Musgrave Island depart from 1770 marina only a short 10 minute drive from the
Agnes Water Beach Club.  Lady Musgrave Island has a large sheltered lagoon with crystal clear waters perfect for snorkeling. This southern end
of the Great Barrier Reef is renowned as the most pristine section of the Great Barrier Reef with the clearest conditions for coral viewing.
You can snorkel, dive, take a glass bottom boat so you do not even need to get wet to see the amazing coral gardens that inhabits this lagoon. If you
have not visited the Great Barrier Reef before this is one of the must do’s.

2. Take a L.A.R.C. trip

Is it a bus? Is it a boat? It is a LARC. An amphibious vessel which travels up the isolated beaches to the north of Agnes Water taking you on a journey
of discovery to Bustard Head Lighthouse.

Bustard Head Light house is Queensland’s only operating lighthouse that welcomes visitors into the lighthouse. The Bustard Head Lighthouse has had a number of books written about it with titles like the “Lighthouse of Tragedy” the area has a rich, enchanting history, the stories of which will have you glued to edge of your seat as they are told on this tour.  If you are lucky whilst at the light house you may meet author of the “Light House of Tragedy” and former Bustard head Light housekeeper Stuart Buchanan, quite a character himself, as he tells his own tales of life at the Lighthouse.

Then Billy tea and lunch before a quick stop for some exhilarating sand boarding down towering sand dunes in the very picturesque Jenny Lind Creek.

3. Kayak into the sunset

What better way to finish the afternoon than take a guided kayak tour, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of 1770 inlet. Spot turtles, dolphins and dugongs.
Stop on a quiet beach for a glass of wine as the afternoon slips away. Afternoon kayak tours leave most afternoons weather permitting from 1770, 10
minutes’ drive from Agnes Water beach Club.

4. Bushwalks

Be immersed in nature on one of the many great Bush Walks around Agnes Water and 1770.Whether you are after stunning beach and headland walks or something
different like the magical Paper bark forest walk there are many bush walking options close by.

Or just take a walk along one of our many beaches. How good would it be to start everyday with a walk along Agnes Water Beach?

5. Catch a sunset over the water at 1770

1770 is one of those few places on the east coast where you can witness stunning sunsets over the waters of Bustard Bay.  Head to either the foreshore
at 1770 or the 1770 Headland and watch Mother nature turn it on as the sunsets on another fantastic day in the Agnes Water region.

6. Visit Agnes Water Museum

Located in Agnes Water a short walk from the Beach Club.  The Agnes Water Museum pays tribute to the region’s aboriginal and pioneering past and its
unique maritime history.

The Museum’s collection include significant items such as a copy of Cook’s log, photos of plants found by botanists Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander. Charts
drawn by Matthew Flinders, and other items relating to the maritime discoveries of the coast, the original telescope from the first lighthouse on the
Queensland Coast and many historic photographs.

7. Explore the national parks either side of town.

Agnes Water is surrounded by pristine national parks. These offer some great opportunities for bush walking and 4 wheel driving.

Just to the north of Agnes Water you will find Eurimbula national park.  Here you will find a 4 wheel drive track that takes you through open grazing country, pockets
of rainforest and onto isolated beaches.

Similarly to the south of Agnes Water you will find Deep Water National Park which has sandy beaches, diverse coastal lowland vegetation and the catchment of near-pristine Deepwater Creek, one of the Queensland’s few remaining undisturbed coastal freshwater streams. The beaches in this national park are a nesting ground for loggerhead, flatback and green turtles. The track through the National Park requires a 4 wheel drive but if you do not have your own ask reception about 4 wheel drive tour options. It is well worth making it a round trip through thenational park onto Baffle Creek and returning through the Agnes Water Hinterland.

8. Catch a wave or SUP

Agnes Water is Queensland’s northern most surfing beach with the friendliest surf breaks around.  No agro in the waves here just typical laid back
Agnes style.  Catch up with locals and visitors alike.  Never surfed before?  That is ok there are a number of surf schools in town that will have you riding a wave in no time.

Stand up Paddle Boarding has also become very popular in the area whether you like to take on the surf or more relaxed paddle in the shelter on the 1770
inlet, there are plenty of options. If you do not have your own board there is a SUP hire located at 1770.

blue to some of the best reef fishing grounds around taking on the mighty Red Emperor or the delicious Coral trout.

10. Relax, Kick back, unwind and enjoy Agnes Time at the Beach Club.

After you arrive at the Beach Club park your car. You may not need that again as most things are close walking distance, forget the shoes, Barefoot or
thongs are standard dress code here, you won’t need a watch you are now on Agnes time. Things move a little slower here. Take a deep breathe of the
fresh salt air and feel your worries and stress fade away.  The Beach Club’s large balconies have deck chairs for you to laze the day away.
The beach is a short 2 minute leisurely walk away.If you do feel energetic there is the pool or otherwise just soak in the spa.
